Murmuring And Complaining?

Stop MurmuringGod doesn’t like it when you murmur. Especially, when you’re His child and He has been so good to you. He expects you to come boldly to Him to tell Him whatever you’re worried about and ask for His help, instead of murmuring and complaining. When you murmur, you incur His anger.

A very good example of those who love to murmur and complain were the children of Israel on their way from the land of captivity, Egypt. They were so used to murmuring and complaining that it had become a part of them, and God had showed them that He hated murmurings and complaining, but they refused to change.

In Numbers 11 they complained about wanting to eat flesh. They complained about the manna which God miraculously provided for them. They murmured about the delicacies they said were in Egypt and they were missing. God heard them and He actually gave them flesh to eat but at a horrible cost: “And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord smote the people with a very great plague.” (Numbers 11: 33 (KJV)

One would expect that, after such an experience, murmuring and complaining should be a thing of the past among them but such was not the case. In Numbers 21:5 (ESV), “And the people spoke against God and against Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless food.” What happened after that was not what they expected.  “Then the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. Numbers 21:6 (ESV).

The Lessons?

Don’t murmur against God and His servants and don’t make it a habit to complain about everything.

Instead, tell God everything and ask Him to help you and He will. If He doesn’t answer the way you want, trust Him that He’s doing the best for you at that point in time and thank Him for it.

Believe that He loves you, wants the best for you and He will give you same at the right time.

Stop complaining! Stop murmuring! God doesn’t like it.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV).

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! Matthew 7:7-11 ESV).
